Windscreen Reseal
There are different reasons why your vehicle may require a windscreen reseal.
Vehicles fail a warrant of fitness for rust around the A pillar of the vehicle and typically when you find rust around the windscreen, there's likely to be rust underneath the windscreen. This means the windscreen will need to be removed for the rust repairs to be done and then re-installed into the vehicle days or even weeks later once the rust repairs have been carried out.

Windscreen leak repair is another reason your vehicle windshield may require a reseal. There are several different causes for a leaky windscreen;
1. There is rust underneath the windshield. This means the polyurethane is now bonded to rust and not the pinch weld of the vehicle like it should be.
2. Poor workmanship has caused a breach between the polyurethane adhesive bonding of your vehicles pinch weld and windscreen.
3. Contamination of the polyurethane adhesive bonding. This can be in the form of moisture, oil from hands, dirt or even incorrect chemicals/products being used during the windscreen installation process.
4. A defective windscreen. Windscreens with a polyurethane installation require a compatible substrate surface to effectively bond to. When polyurethane is used on glass it requires a black ceramic enamel band (frit). Sometimes this ceramic band can be smooth or glossy, identical to the clear glass area of the windscreen. As this is not the ideal bonding surface for the polyurethane, the bond will diminish over time and no longer seal out water.

Leak detection:
The windscreen is the usual suspect when your vehicle springs a leak, however it's not always the culprit behind your damp vehicle.
There are different methods of detecting a water or air leak;
1. The simple method. peel back interior trims & roof lining while someone outside pours water over the vehicle with a hose.
2. Spray bubbly solution around suspected areas and then blow air on them from the inside of the vehicle with a blower or air compressor.
3. Ultrasonic leak detection. We use a device to transmit ultrasonic sound waves from inside the vehicle. the soundwaves cannot travel through glass, metal or rubber so they will only travel through gaps between the seal.
Lights or rubber grommets can be another source of water leaks in a vehicle. Various rubber seals on the doors can also become worn and water can begin to pool up in areas of the vehicle and as a result condensation builds up. Then mold can start to grow and even become a health problem.
