What are caravan windows made of?

​Modern Caravan windows tend to be acrylic plastic in most cases, and a replacement window will be sourced new from the manufacturer or a wholesale distributor. Motorhomes will tend to come with tempered safety glass, in older models' replacement glass may need to be custom made if the glass manufacturing has been discontinued.

Older model caravans are usually 3-5mm thick clear float glass. Standard practice is to visit the job site and create a template for the new glass from the existing hole or old glass if possible. Then we will return to the shop to cut the glass to size and return to the jobsite normally a day or two later for installation.

How much is a caravan window replacement NZ?

Clear float glass replacement windows are the cheapest. The front or back windscreen on a rubber fit caravan will cost around $500.00 to supply and install. Smaller windows can be replaced for around $300.00.

Windows inside an aluminium frame can sometimes be more to replace depending on the type.

Modern caravan or motorhome windows can vary quite significantly in price depending on the make model and size of the window. This cost can range anywhere from $400-$2000.

How long does it take to replace a caravan window?

Generally, for the larger windows such as the front or back windscreen, replacements can take 1 or 2 hours, however you must also consider this is on the return trip if dealing with clear float glass and does not include making the template or cutting the glass to size. 

A panoramic sunroof window can take up to 4 hours to replace.
